Overview:
The Safeguards Rule requires financial institutions under FTC jurisdiction, which includes
automotive dealers, to have measures inplace to kep customer information secure. Such
measures include required staff training and a formal written Policy. In addition to developing
their own safeguards, companies covered by the Rule are also responsible for taking steps to ensure
their affiliates and service providers safeguard customer information in their care.
